First Sunday of Lent

News for Sunday 21st February 2021.

Keeping Faith

This Sunday’s Scripture:

God made a binding agreement, a Covenant, to adopt us as His family. But many do not know this. Jesus came to preach this ‘Good News’: That we are part of God’s Kingdom and His Family. We ask that this Lent our hearts are opened to hear this Good News more deeply.

Ashes Cards:

A sign that our faith is Good News for everybody.

The ashes remind us that we turn away from the negative, towards hope always.

Take your card from the boxes, and keep it as a reminder.

Sunday Mass with the Public:

St Charles opens experimentally this Sunday for Sunday Mass with the public at 9.00am.

Depending on the success of the public Mass at Grange, I will consider opening our other churches for Sunday Mass. Opening for weekday Masses to be considered later. Please see next Newsletter.

The future of our Parishes:

See Pope Francis’ instruction ‘The pastoral conversion of the Parish community in the service of the evangelising mission of the Church’ (2020) (‘Pastoral Conversion of the Parish’ for short)

It is the road map to the future for Catholic parishes and of fundamental importance.

Parishes are to go from maintenance to mission.

Reliance more on pastoral areas rather than individual parishes.

Suggestion: Read the first 4 short chapters. Link is as follows:
